The original building was the Toll Booth which was built in the middle of the town around 1730 but was gutted by fire in 1872 to which then the building that stands now is the Memorial Hall rebuilt in 1872.
The building, over the years has been used for various uses. As described above it was first known as the Toll Booth, it has been an indoor market, workshops, a court room and a jail.
With so much emotion being held in the building, due to its different uses such as a court and Jail, and due to it being a community hub could this contribute to what resides in this historic building?
The village the building is situated in also dates back to The Saxon times to which Stones from one of the Castles were used to build the Toll House.
