Sold out

30 East Drive is an unassuming semi-detached house on the Chequerfield Estate in Pontefract. It also has a reputation as one of the most haunted houses in Britain. In the 1970s it was home to 12 year old Diane Pritchard and her family. The events that unfolded in that home led to the entire family fleeing the property and it has not been lived in since. The family moved into the house in August 1966 and almost immediately began to witness a series of strange events that escalated as time passed. At first it was chalk dust descending from somewhere below head height, then green foam began to emerge from taps, even after they were turned off. Lights would be turned on and off by unseen hands. These unexplained events continued for years and reached a new climax when Diane found herself physically dragged up the stairs of the house by her hair. This episode left her with visible marks on her throat. As the attacks intensified Diane and the family eventually decided they had no choice but to leave the house, and it has remained abandoned to this day.

When you first enter 30 East Drive there is the musty, untouched smell you would expect from an empty building. All around there are reminders that this was once a family home, but at the same time a sense of expectation is in the air, something is about to happen. Activity here is frequent and intense. Lights go on and off on their own. Noises are heard in the hallway and objects move on their own. The bed in one of the bedrooms was recently destroyed by the poltergeist, a brave individual who managed to spend part of the night in that room found himself pinned to the bed in fear. The main poltergeist here was known as Fred by the Pritchard family, recent investigations have also uncovered the presence of a female spirit in the house. A visit here is certain to be intense, and impossible to prepare for.
